Not all people have family support, have learned about what self discipline is or know what it is to be that way. Taxation is seen as "forced redistribution"? What do we have that is completely ours, not given to us by God? Whether one believes in Him or not. Even one's ability to work, where does that come from? Do we not take things for granted? I agree with the small government point. I don't believe individuals know best what to do with their money better than the government. Can we say materialism & consumerism? Free market point is somewhat valid, and though it sounds good that opportunities are available for EVERYONE, that is not the reality. "More individuals can enjoy the satisfaction and fruits of self-made success." The reality is that only SOME individuals will be able to do that.
